'D/D' ( (ディー) (ディー) DīDī), known as DD in the English manga and pronounced 'Double D' in the dubbed anime, is an archetype of Fiendmonsters with various Attributes (primarily DARK) used by Declan Akaba in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime and manga. It is supported by its own sub-archetype; 'D/D/D'.

Design

Appearance

The regular 'D/D' monsters seem to be based on different figures and monsters from Western mythology, while the 'D/D Savant' monsters are references to great natural scientists from Western history.

In contrast, the 'D/D/D' sub-archetype features a distinct design style from the rest of the archetype, with many of its members modeled after famous conquerors from world history.

Taken together with its subordinate and sub-archetypes, the 'D/D' archetype features a mild 'business' sub-theme (probably to fit the profession of their owner in the anime), with many support cards referencing elements of modern big business. For example, the 'Dark Contract' cards resemble business contracts, and the names of 'D/D/D Human Resources' and 'Contract Laundering' reference like-namedcompany practices.

Additionally, some of the archetype's boss monsters such as 'D/D/D Doom King Armageddon' feature a pun in its Japanese name, such as 'Great Des (Death) King' being scripted as 'Shiiō', a homophone for 'CEO'. A similar pun can be found in the Japanese name of 'D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok'/'D/D/D Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok', 'Oblivion King', which is scripted as 'Kaichiō', a homophone for 'Chairman'.

So far in the ARC-V manga, the 'D/D' monsters appear to be demons with a mechanical, scientific theme (distinct in design to the 'D/D Savant' monsters) and have equipment like scales or microscopes instead of faces.

Etymology

According to Sora Perse, 'D/D' is short for 'Different Dimension' (ディファレント・ディメンション Difarento Dimenshon), the same as the 'D.D.' series.[1]

D And D Insider Tools

One can start off by using 'Savant Kepler' to search for 'Dark Contract with the Gate', which in turn can search the combo starters of either 'Swirl Slime' and 'Necro Slime' and the finisher 'D/D Lamia'. The Slimes are Fusion enablers (hand and GY, respectively) and Lamia is a level one Tuner Monster.

Following the success of Shrek 2 in May 2004, Jeffrey Katzenberg revealed that the Shrek story had been outlined into five films almost from the beginning. Shrek forever after download torrent.

'Flame King Genghis' (a Level 6 Fusion Monster) can combo its effect with the similar 'D/D/D Gust King Alexander' (a Level 7 Synchro Monster) to climb to Level 8 at least, using a Level 1 Tuner such as 'Lamia' to summon 'Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon' (which has monster effect negation, destruction and ATK gain) and 'Cursed King Siegfried' (which can negate any Spell or Trap at Quick Effect speed) for two of some of the most powerful negation effects.

Either the effect of 'Lamia' or 'Siegfried' can used to bounce or negate without destroying to avoid the cost of the 'Dark Contract' cards for a turn, or use the effects of 'Oracle King d'Arc' (which turns effect damage into gain LP) and 'Rebel King Leonidas' (which prevents effect damage) to disable the LP payments permanently. Neither of these effects interfere with each other, allowing the player to continuously gain LP but also avoid effect damage should 'd’Arc' be destroyed or have its effect negated.

Additionally, the Deck has access to many cards that can recycle resources from the Graveyard, face-up from the Extra Deck, and the Pendulum Zones, such as 'Lilith', 'Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok' and 'D/D/D Human Resources'.

With the release of Structure Deck: Pendulum Domination, 'Savant Copernicus' and 'Savant Newton' provide more consistent Pendulum Scales than 'Savant Kepler' and 'Savant Galilei'. 'Copernicus' has the bonus of dumping 'D/D' cards from the Deck to start combos, whereas Newton can discard itself to add a 'Dark Contract' card or a different 'D/D' monster from the Graveyard. 'D/D Orthros' is a reusable Tuner monster, by virtue of also being a Pendulum Monster, to make Synchro Summons easier to execute. 'Dark Contract with the Yamimakai' can set the Pendulum Scales from the Graveyard or Extra Deck to start Pendulum Summoning.

Weakness

Because this Deck focuses on swarming to push the game, cards that can disable or counter swarming or searching, like 'Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo' or 'Thunder King Rai-Oh', can greatly hinder this Deck. Additionally, the archetype's synergy with the 'Dark Contract' archetype provides a weakness to Spell/Trap removal, as well as a dependence on cards that mitigate the damage from the 'Dark Contract' cards.

We've come a long, long, way from 'Roll 3d6 6 times.' While character creation in Dungeons & Dragons Fourth Edition is somewhat less intricate than it was in Third Edition, the plethora of sourcebooks and options still makes it a complex process. You may need to check four or five hardcover books and a half-dozen on-line articles in Dragon to be sure you're seeing every choice of at-will powers for your new dwarf fighter.. or you can just fire up Dungeons & Dragons Character Builder and see every official rule, for a price.

The D&D Character Builder demo covers characters of levels 1 through 3 only--enough to evaluate the full functionality of the product. It does include a small selection of races and classes from supplements beyond the Players Handbook, but by no means all of them. To get everything, including monthly updates, you need to subscribe to D&D Insider, a periodical which has varying rates. The good news is that you don't need a constant subscription to use Character Builder once it's unlocked and updated: You can spend $10 on a one-month subscription and be done with it. That said, if you're playing in an active Fourth Edition game, you may want a D&DI subscription anyway.

Character Builder has a clean interface, though one which varies a bit from typical Windows conventions. It's designed to create and edit one character at a time, and a wizard style interface takes you through each step, such as picking your race, class, feats, and powers. Once created, you can level your character up, buy it equipment, and retrain powers. All the rules are enforced, though some can be overridden. You can have higher attributes than you 'should,' for example; the program simply writes 'HOUSERULED' on your sheet so everybody's aware of it. The best part of this is that the bulk of the math is done for you. If you equip a longsword, your 'Basic Mêlée Attack' figures your total to-hit and damage modifiers, counting in every feat, class feature, and magical bonus. Swap out for that +3 Flaming Axe, and everything changes. All of your powers are printed in an array that makes it easy to cut them out and use them like cards, and they include both the default rules for the power and your personal values, calculated for your current build and equipment.

There is a downside to Character Builder. While the market of third-party Fourth Edition supplements is smaller than it was for third edition, due to a more restrictive license, there are still plenty of such products out there, and it's quite impossible to add your own classes, races, or powers to Character Builder in a useful way. You can add a 'House Rule' for any element, but this amounts to nothing more than placeholder text which doesn't integrate in any way with the calculation aspect of the project. So you can create a feat which, say, gives a half-elf +2 with axes so long as they speak Dwarvish, but there's no way to only let half-elves pick it, and if your half-elf has an axe and this 'feat,' the +2 won't be figured in anywhere. As compared to PCGen--which is basically a script-driven engine that can handle almost anything if you're willing to deal with its complex and persnickety description language--Character Builder loses in flexibility but gains dramatically in ease of use and (if you're a DDI subscriber) completeness. Also, due to licensing changes, any third-party program which supports Fourth Edition D&D is skating on thin legal ice.

A quick warning: If someone with a full version gives a demo user a character file, the demo's response to data elements it doesn't have is highly variable. One character I tested correctly printed powers not found in the demo, but lost weapon and armor proficiencies due to the demo not correctly handling the new 'Hybrid' class features. Other users have experienced different, but equally broken, results. In short, reading any but the most basic characters with the demo is probably not going to work properly.

The demo of Dungeons & Dragons Character Builder is basically just enough to show you what it can do. To get full utility, you need to subscribe to DDI, at least long enough to unlock the full range of levels and download all the latest datasets.

Note: To unlock all Character Builder's levels and receive updates, you must subscribe to D&D Insider. As of this writing, the prices vary from $10 for a one-month subscription to $6/month for a one-year subscription.
